バッキンガム宮殿やウィンザー城等において英国陸軍の近衛兵が衛兵勤務に就いている。
衛兵は直立不動の姿勢で護衛を行い、衛兵交代式は観光資源の一つとなっている。
歩兵部隊の正装は赤い上着に熊の毛皮の帽子（Bearskin）で有名であり、連隊によって制服のボタンの配列と帽子の飾りに差異がある。
